I was born into a family that practised ancestor worship. As a child, I prayed to Chinese deities, recited the Lord’s Prayer from my mission school, and even prayed to an “unknown god,” hoping one of them would hear me. Yet, despite my religious devotion, I was deeply prejudiced against Christianity.
Everything changed in 1975 when a friend invited me to a Christian meeting. I responded to the altar call without fully understanding its significance, but that simple act marked the beginning of my journey with Jesus Christ.
My parents strongly opposed my conversion. As the eldest son, I was pressured to abandon my faith, threatened with being disowned, and forbidden from attending church. Yet the more they opposed me, the more Christ transformed my life. Eventually, they saw the change in my character, and one by one, members of my family came to know the Lord. My greatest joy was seeing my mother receive Christ before she passed into eternity.
I was an ordinary student with no outstanding achievements. Yet God’s favour opened doors that I could never have imagined. I gained admission into university, developed as a Christian leader, and began a career in property consultancy. Through economic recessions, financial uncertainties, and countless business decisions, God proved Himself to be my faithful Provider and Guide.
Many of my greatest business breakthroughs came not through professional expertise, but through simple obedience to God’s prompting. Time after time, He protected me from costly mistakes, opened unexpected opportunities, and provided exactly what I needed—even during financial crises when His provision arrived with astonishing precision.
Success, however, did not come without trials. Heavy workloads eventually led to anxiety, insomnia, and emotional exhaustion. In those dark seasons, God became my refuge. Through His Word and His presence, He restored my health, strengthened my faith, and taught me that His grace is always sufficient.
God also blessed my family. After years of prayer, He brought our son back to Himself and faithfully guided him into the future God had prepared for him. We learned that while parents sow and pray, only God changes hearts.
One of God’s greatest gifts to me has been serving in the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI). Through this marketplace ministry, I discovered that true success is not measured by wealth or position, but by transformed lives. Whether equipping leaders, supporting churches, serving the poor during the COVID-19 pandemic, or mentoring younger businessmen, I have learned that significance comes from serving God’s Kingdom.
Today, my daily prayer is simple: “Lord, grant me Your wisdom, favour, and grace.” Wisdom to make right decisions, favour with God and people, and grace to trust Him when His answers are delayed.
Looking back, I realise that God delights in taking ordinary people and using them for extraordinary purposes. I was insignificant by the world’s standards, but through His grace He gave my life eternal significance.
My journey is still unfinished, but one truth remains certain:
When God is at the centre of your life, He turns ordinary lives into extraordinary testimonies for His glory.
