Chinese Happy Men …. Arise And Shine For Jesus

< Previous, > Next

Ever since the Annual Members' Conference in 1998, the FGB ministry among the Chinese-speaking community had been experiencing a great and mighty revival. The paradigm shift saw the convening of two Asian Chinese Conventions and thousands of souls accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour.

The birth of the Chinese-speaking chapters in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand could be attributed to the two said conventions. We thank the Lord for the untiring contributions of Bro. Tan Tek Seng and the many Chinese and non Chinese-speaking members that came forth to put their hands on the plough and who have not looked back since. Praise the Lord!

The excitement created among the Chinese-speaking community is an eye-opener of the numerous opportunities and possibilities for the establishment of the Kingdom among Chinese churches. Moreover, the Chinese pastors who had caught the vision and mission wanted to be in partnership or network with the FGB. Such excitement and enthusiasm in the market place ministry has not been seen for a long time and has been described as the second wave of revival after the first that resulted in the formation of the FGB ministry in l979.

The Chinese Happy Men, very much like King David's mighty men, have been let loose to build the Kingdom and they have travelled all over Malaysia under the FGBMF Ministry. Networking with the Chinese pastors and churches had resulted in many joint public evangelistic meetings. The success of the two conventions also saw the beginning of the growth of the Chinese-speaking chapters to 27 chapters.

With the expansion, many challenges have arisen and the National Board is currently addressing them. The strategy adopted by the Chinese ministry is to be continued and their networking offered encouragement, positive ideas and proposals that will enhance the glory of Jesus Christ among the Chinese-speaking people.

For a start, a National Director of Chinese work (Bro. Tan Tek Seng) has been appointed in the enlarged National Board. Group Coordinators who have been appointed for the Chinese-speaking chapters will report to their respective Regional Director who in turn will work in close association with Bro. Tan Tek Seng. This mode of working and reporting is to ensure that the FGB vision is continued even though it is being demarcated by language groups. The next group targeted is the Tamil-speaking group and plans have been drawn up for the same.

In the meantime, much work remains to be ushered in to sustain the expansion. This is mainly in the organisational structure of the Ministry, the appointment of the right men in key positions, the involvement of the Chinese-speaking chapters in the main stream of FGB work, the Chinese VOICE, now in its third issue, and possibly the FLAME in Chinese.

The National Board will, therefore, continue to encourage the Chinese work through building and training the Chinese-speaking leaders to be good testimonies in their workplace and family life. Furthermore, there are plans to hold a Chinese pastors' retreat on a regional basis so that the FGB can have a network of pastors who are in partnership with the FGB's vision and mission. Such partnerships will culminate in the sponsoring and holding of the Second Global Chinese Convention in 2006 in Kuala Lumpur which the National Board has in principle agreed to host.

In the October 2003 First Global Chinese Convention at Taipei, there was a mighty out-pouring of the Holy Spirit and many witnessed a great move of God among the Chinese-speaking participants. Please pray for the fruition of the expansion of the Chinese work and that the FGB ministry may be the catalyst in a greater move of God among the Chinese-speaking people in Malaysia and the world.

To God Be The Glory.
